The article examines the principle of polarity as the law of the universe and the principle of F. Saussure’s dichotomy in linguistics on the example of the ideographic sign of the Chinese and Japanese languages “Heart of Buddha”. Such fundamental knowledge and practical skills of mastering the basics of hieroglyphics are required for specialists in the field of oriental languages and culture for their effective professional activity. The ideographic sign Manji has many positive meanings: “Buddha’s heart”; Buddhist symbol of happiness and prosperity; Buddhist cross. The Buddhist swastika Manji is used in the modern linguistic environment not only in written texts, but also in the cultural aspect as a symbol of good luck and prosperity, light and love, grace and mercy, compassion, heavenly body, sun, infinity, eternity, vortex flow, fire (agni) of the hearth. The oldest ideographic sign is widely represented in the practical activities of the past, such as pottery ornaments, signs on banknotes and coins, heraldic images on clothes, armor, weapons, flags, pennants of elite samurai, standards of commanders and other paraphernalia. A modern person and a specialist comes across Manji as a protective symbol, a distinctive sign of coats of arms, in Buddhist temples, emblems of Japanese cities, a cartographic mark for Buddhist temples in Japan and China. The Manji character is widely represented in examples from ancient languages to modern times. Its interpretation and understanding by specialists of oriental languages, the study of hieroglyphics through the phenomenon of the dichotomy of the composition of hieroglyph features are important for the practical use of knowledge in the eastern linguocultural environment. |
