Despite all the methodological and technical innovations of recent decades, the problem of improving the quality of education and finding effective teaching aids facing the education system and the pedagogical community remains relevant. The use of modern gadgets makes it possible to overcome the insufficient technical equipment of classrooms, to solve the problem of the lack of printed editions of educational literature. In addition, the use of smartphones by students opens up opportunities for completing assignments as part of independent work. There are two main strategies for working with a smartphone in lectures on history: viewing a multimedia presentation while taking notes on the material presented by the teacher, and viewing a multimedia presentation and taking notes from it while listening to lecture material in which the teacher places emphasis, draws attention to the most important questions and problems. Smartphones are also applicable when performing independent tasks that involve searching for the necessary information on the Internet. In this regard, it should be noted the expediency of using smartphones when performing tasks related to the analysis of texts of historical sources. In general, the study showed that students have a positive attitude towards the use of smartphones in history classes. To achieve a positive result, it is necessary not to prohibit or authoritarianly restrict the use of smartphones, but to educate responsible use of them, to explain to adolescents the possible consequences for their physical or mental health that arise from prolonged use of gadgets. The correct use of a smartphone in a student’s educational activities can contribute to a more effective performance of the teaching and development function, as well as to motivate students to acquire new knowledge. |
