The article presents the results of an empirical study of the pedagogical competence of parents raising young children. The competence of parents was determined by the ability to adequately assess the neuropsychiatric development of their child. At the same time, the assessment of parents was compared with the assessments of specialists — psychologists, defectologists, speech therapists. Diagnosis of children was carried out according to the developed observation map, which includes fourteen directions, among which the key are the assessment of speech development, the formation of constructive actions, the level of sensory development, communicative skills of interaction with peers and adults, assessment of the development of the emotional-volitional sphere, etc. The results of the comparative analysis showed the tendency of parents to exaggerate the level of development of their child and not notice signs of developmental lag or symptoms of impaired development in areas such as sensory and cognitive development; emotionalvolitional sphere. But worries and anxiety about the level of speech development of the child are exaggerated; parents expect early speech manifestations from the child, which significantly exceed the age norm. According to the author, this fact is the leading reason that parents do not turn or do not seek help from specialists in a timely manner, missing the sensational periods of the child’s development and the possibility of forming compensatory mechanisms. According to the results of the study, a low level of pedagogical competence of parents was identified, which confirms the need to provide them with early assistance and accompany a family raising a child of an early age. The results formed the basis of a program to improve parental competence, which will help parents competently and harmoniously organize a space that contributes to the comprehensive development of an early child. |
