Building a regional system of academic and methodological support for teachers of general education institutions in the Irkutsk Region should provide an opportunity for continuous vocational training not only for teachers working at municipal general education institutions, conventionally called “mainstream schools” by the author, but also for teachers of special needs schools in the region. Considering that traditionally one of the most efficient forms of professional development in the national methodological work system has been the teacher’s inclusion in the team of like-minded people to share the effective experience and learn the efficient innovative practices of colleagues, the Department of Inclusive Education of the State Autonomous Institution for Supplementary Vocational Education “Institute for Education Development of the Irkutsk Region” provides organizational and methodological support for the process of establishment and functioning of a focused online community of teachers of special needs schools that includes defectologist teachers, primary school teachers, teachers of Handicraft and Physical Education, specialists in the field of education, teachers working with students with health limitations and disabilities individually at home or in a healthcare institution, and others. The author’s view on the definition of areas and contents of activities of such community presented in the article is based on the identified professional deficiencies of its members in the context of educating students with health limitations, and is the starting point for planning the activities for efficient continuous professional development of teachers of special needs schools in the conditions of the regional system of academic and methodological support. |
