This article analyzes the current issues of foreign language education in the profile university specializing in traditional art crafts of Russia. The author describes the goals and objectives of teaching foreign languages in a non-linguistic university, provides information about problematic issues in this area, and examines the specifics of current approaches, methods and technologies of foreign language teaching to students-future artists in the field of traditional art crafts. The content of foreign language teaching is revealed in connection with the approaches used in this area, which have a huge impact on the results and the level of students. The article also describes the forms of classroom and extracurricular work of students, which it is advisable to use in teaching foreign languages to artists, because the latter are characterized by specific psychological features: visual-imaginative thinking, the use of various kinds of associations in their work. The article shows the importance of professionally-oriented model of foreign language teaching at the profile university, which is the fundamental goal of education, points out the interdisciplinary approach, which consists in students learning the basics of their future profession in a foreign language, deepening their professional knowledge in foreign language classes, analyzes such an approach as quasi-professional activity, which consists in the use of various business games and techniques in foreign language classes, which are based on a professional skills and knowledge . The author comes to the conclusion about the complementarity of foreign language education of future artists studying traditional art crafts of Russia, which is realized in the course of continuous and systematic process of foreign language teaching, taking into account the needs of future specialists through the use of specific approaches, methods and technologies adequate to the needs of the future profession of students. |
