Annotation:

The article presents the results of research into the practice of choosing strategic alternatives to manage the competitiveness of modern industrial enterprises in a changed market environment amid growing external challenges for the Russian economy. Industrial enterprises are currently in a state of competition, and are seeking to improve their competitive position. The choice of a competitive development path is always relevant for all industrial enterprises in Russia. The subject of the study was the approaches and problems of choosing strategic alternatives to manage the competitiveness of enterprises using the example of industrial enterprises of the cable industry. The purpose of the study is to systematize the approaches and conditions for evaluating and choosing strategic alternatives to manage the competitiveness of Russian enterprises in an unstable market environment. The methods of system, factor, structural, dynamic, critical analysis, comparison and contrast, calculation, etc. were used in the research process. The results of the study are recommendations for the development of scientific and practical approaches to justifying the competitive strategy of industrial enterprises based on the analysis of strategic alternatives due to the scaled impact of external challenges on the Russian economy as a whole, the development of structural, organizational and other solutions. The authors’ contribution to the solution of the studied problems is determined by an increase in organizational, methodological and practical knowledge and tools for justifying the choice of strategic alternatives for managing the competitiveness of enterprises in the cable industry. Conclusions are made about the possibilities of using the developed proposals in terms of choosing strategic alternatives and justifying a competitive strategy not only in the practice of a separate enterprise in the cable industry, but also other enterprises in the industry that have similar business problems in the context of growing external challenges.
