THE CONCEPT OF INVESTMENT BANKING IN THE LEGISLATION OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION AND THE REPUBLIC OF AZERBAIJAN

This article is devoted to the theoretical and legal analysis of the term “investment banking” in the legislation of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan. The author draws attention to significant changes in the role of banks in investment activities over the past decades. The main development trends are highlighted, with focus on the fact that modern banks have become intermediaries between investors and issuers of securities, offering a wide range of financial services and actively using technology to optimize processes. The article substantiates the relevance of studying the legal regulation of investment activities in the banking sector in the context of Russia and the Republic of Azerbaijan. The importance of comparative analysis of legislation and its impact on the development of financial markets is established. The legislation on banks and banking activities is analyzed from the perspective of terminology. Analysis of the terminology and legislation allows the author to form new concepts, expand the understanding of investment banking and investment activities in the banking sector in accordance with the legislation of the two countries. The results of the study are presented in the article considering the opinions of various scientists and legislators, which gives the work scientific and practical significance. As a result of the study, the author’s definition of investment banking is formed. Based on the analysis and research results, the article forms the basis for proposals aimed to improve the legislation regulating investment activities in the banking sector, thereby contributing to the development of the financial system, strengthening financial stability and protecting the interests of financial market participants in Russia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
