The article is devoted to examining the role of higher education institutions in the process of employment and career development of youth in Russia. The relevance of the study is due to the increasing competition among university graduates and the need to adapt university activities to the requirements of a dynamically changing labor market. The aim of the work is to review the activities of Russian universities in the field of promoting youth employment. The research methodology is based on a comprehensive application of qualitative and quantitative analysis methods, using the results of the RAEX-100 ranking of the best Russian universities and analysis of self-examination reports of leading Russian universities. The research results show that leading Russian universities have significant potential to influence the labor market and graduate employment. The paper identifies and describes the key components of the mechanism used by universities to promote the employment of students and graduates. The authors also address the development of students’ entrepreneurial competences as an important factor in their successful employment and career growth. The paper analyzes the experience of leading universities in the activities of career centers, the introduction of special courses aimed at developing skills for interaction with employers, as well as the use of modern online platforms for organizing youth interaction with potential employers and creating digital student portfolios. Based on the analysis, promising directions for further improvement of the mechanism for promoting youth employment by universities are identified. The implementation of these directions requires joint efforts of universities, government, and business. The research results can be useful for developing effective strategies for university interaction with the labor market and improving employment rates of young specialists. |
