Defining in his Address to the Federal Assembly the priority trends of development for the next 6 years and with a perspective up to 2036, the President of the Russian Federation identified the demographic issue as a strategically important one for our country. This is due to the trends that have been clearly visible in recent years in the demographic picture of Russia: a decline in the birth rate and total population, a decrease in the total fertility rate, a rise in life expectancy accompanied by population ageing, and urbanization of the population. The challenges facing Russia in the field of demography are existential, as the lack of their solution threatens Russia with its complete disappearance. The demographic crisis in Russia is caused by a number of factors, one of which is induced termination of pregnancy. Despite the positive trend towards a reduction in the number of abortions, which has been observed over the past two decades, their number remains quite high and still exceeds the European average. Studies have shown that the key factors that motivate women to have abortions are their fear of social insecurity and economic instability. In addition, a woman’s decision is influenced by housing problems and the prospect of disruption of life plans. The paper proposes a comprehensive approach aimed at supporting a woman’s psychological confidence in the future during pregnancy, childbirth and maternity leave. The measures developed within the framework of this approach can contribute not only to reducing the number of induced terminations of pregnancy, but also to increasing the likelihood of making a decision to have a second and next child
