Annotation: A boxer is able to maintain high speed through- out the entire fight only with significant physical strength. The study is devoted to the problem of identifying effective ways to increase strength in young boxers. The authors pres- ent the dynamic characteristics of strength abilities in boxers aged 1516 years. The article presents methodological aspects of boxers’ strength training in the preparation period of the annual macrocycle. The main ways of training and improving athletes’ strength are considered. It is described that the tradi- tional physical training using modern means of armwrestling, aimed at improving the strength abilities in young boxers leads to moderate improvement in most of the tested indicators of strength qualities (which are significantly behind the modern requirements of boxing). The authors conducted a compara- tive analysis of the testing results, prepared before and after the pedagogical experiment with the use of the mathemati- cal statistics method. The comparative analysis demonstrates that the results of the athletes in the experimental group are characterized by higher indicators with a reliable difference compared to the results of the athletes in the control group. This fact may indicate a positive effect of the selected arm wrestling means on the development of strength abilities. As a result of the regular use of the proposed armwrestling tools, the authors found a significant increase in the strength of the upper shoulder girdle muscles and an improvement in hand strength in the participants of the experimental group. The results obtained in the research confirm that the usage of armwrestling exercises may be a promising direction in updat- ing the content of physical training of boxers aged 1516 years.
