Annotation: Teaching public speaking is an important aspect of developing students’ communication skills in the modern educational environment, especially in nonlinguistic univer- sities. In the digital age of information and increased commu- nication, the ability to express oneself clearly and confident- ly in public speeches has become essential for professional and personal growth. This article explores the main reasons why teaching public speaking should be a significant part of the curriculum in nonlinguistic universities. It focuses on developing critical thinking skills, selfconfidence, and the ability to structure information and present it to an audience. The article also emphasizes the role of teachers in develo ping students’ public speaking skills through the use of mo dern teaching methods and technologies in English classes, starting from the first year. The article examines the forms of work that are necessary for the development of speaking skills, mono- logue utterance and public speaking, and also offers recom- mendations for integrating these methods into the education- al process. It is necessary to introduce this work in classes with students of different levels, using an individual approach. An important role is given to conducting extracurricular activi ties where students speak to a large audience, which reinforces the skills of public speaking in front of a group in the classroom acquired during the year. In general, the arti- cle demonstrates that the development of public speaking skills contributes not only to improving academic performance, broadening horizons, and the ability to visually present the information we want to convey, but also to the formation of confident and competent professionals who are ready for the challenges of the modern world.
