The article presents a description of military
university cadets` political education from the point of view
of its essence and effectiveness. It is shown that political edu-
cation of military university cadets is based on three groups
of principles – common, sociohistorically conditioned and
personallyprofessionally conditioned. The general functions
of political education are described – educational, develop
mental, defining, normative and regulatory, integrative
and humanitarian, and special functions – transitive, moti-
vational, managerial, and rationalizing. The phenomena of political competence and political culture of military uni-
versity cadets are described: political competence is present-
ed as a complex, multicomponent ability responsible for the
analysis and assessment by the cadet of political phenomena
and processes in the context of the professional activity car-
ried out, the formation of constructive models of political
behavior and strategies for solving problems of military-po-
litical work; political culture is a set of knowledge, values,
attitudes and norms of political behavior that a future officer
must possess in order to effectively perform his professional
duties in a changing geopolitical environment. It is shown
that political education at the personal level manifests itself
as political culture (level of consciousness) and political
competence (level of behavior), which in their unity essen-
tially represent the result of political education, reflecting
the totality of knowledge, skills, abilities, values, attitudes,
norms of political behavior and beliefs that enable one to
effectively analyze the political situation, make informed
decisions, and act in accordance with national interests.
The indicators of political education, ensuring the formation
of political culture and competence among military universi-
ty cadets, are substantiated, including four clusters: cogni-
tive, personal, value and behavioral. |
