The relevance of the study is due to the need to reduce the period of adaptation of first-year students to study at a higher educational institution. Student life, with its academic intensity, unfamiliar surroundings, rearrangement of the usual schedule and high expectations, often provokes stress in young people. This, in turn, can lead to feelings of dissatisfaction and loss of motivation to continue studying at the university. One of the important factors for successful adaptation to the new social environment of firstyear students is their active participation in the social life of the university. The involvement of students who are just starting university studies in various social events contributes to their socialization and integration into the university community. The hypothesis of the presented study is the assumption that attracting students who have just entered the university to organize and participate in mass sports events will help them increase their social activity and reduce the period of adaptation to academic activities. The purpose of the study is to scientifically substantiate the need to introduce a system of mass sports work with students into the educational activities of a university without a sports profile. The subject of the study is the attitude of students to mass sports events, the degree of their participation in this area of social activity at the university. The novelty of the study is due to the problem of redu cing the period of adaptation of first-year students and solving this issue by attracting students to participate in sports events. For the first time, the work examines the socialization of students in the context of mass sports activities at the university without a sports profile. It was established that the firstyear students who were involved in sports and mass events were actively participated in the social activities of the university, including in other areas. The results of the study confirm the importance of mass sports events in the context of the development of students’ social activity. |
