This article examines the methodology of teach-
ing a foreign language in non-linguistic universities using
video materials on the example of the German language. The
purpose of the work is to identify the features in the use of
video material in the process of teaching a foreign language;
to demonstrate some techniques of working with video mate-
rials to activate speechthinking activity in the process of
mastering language material and the formation of commu-
nicative competence. This allows you to learn the functions
and types, the sociopsychological structure of communica-
tion, models of effective personal and business (professional)
communication, as well as lexicogrammatical and stylistic
resources of a foreign language. With the help of videos,
communicative intentions are realized in a foreign language
orally and in writing, using modern information and commu-
nication technologies. Videos are used in foreign language
classes to create visual clarity. The objectives of the study
are to analyze the methods and techniques of using authentic
video materials in the practice of teaching students; to ver-
ify the importance of their use for students and teachers; to
suggest some techniques in the learning process, to enhance
the efficiency of working with video material. Based on
a survey of students and teachers, the role of the video in the
process of teaching a foreign language is assessed. The task
is to focus on the variety of video materials and the correct
choice of them for classes. Authentic video materials con-
tribute to the development of oral speaking, listening and
understanding skills of audio materials, increase motivation
and improve students’ communication skills. The methods
of Russian and German scientists are considered. Most meth-
odologists emphasize the need to use authentic materials
in foreign language classes. With the help of films, the teach-
er gets acquainted with the lifestyle of students, for whom
films and video clips have become firmly embedded in every-
day life. The paper analyzes various types of tasks when
working with a video based on German language materials
used in classes at the Financial University. Future interna-
tional economists should be proficient in a foreign language,
professional vocabulary and be able to use their knowledge
in practice. |
