The article is devoted to the problem of profes-
sional activity of early childhood teachers as subjects of ped-
agogical work. The professional activity of such specialists is
described at the general scientific level of methodological anal-
ysis based on a systematic approach.
The author explains the essence and uniqueness of the pro-
fessional activity of early childhood educators. The systematic
approach allowed the author to describe the structure of the
professional activity of early childhood teachers in terms of
its characteristics: the main objectives of professional activi-
ty, types of activity, functions, and problemsolving methods, as
well as to present the knowledge, skills, and some significant
personal qualities of early childhood educators. The article
provides specific examples of strategies and techniques used
by teachers in their professional activity.
A set of complementary research methods was implement-
ed to obtain a relatively complete characterization of the pro-
fessionalism of early childhood educators and their activities.
Surveys of educators and focused group interviews were con-
ducted to specify the work activities of early childhood educa-
tors and highlight the differences in their work with children
and parents.
Based on the surveys of teachers and experts, the author
described the work activities of early childhood educators
and conducted a comparative analysis with the work activities
of educators contained in the Professional Standard. The author’s idea that the professional activity of educators
specializing in working with infants and young children has a
number of unique characteristics, which is due to the agerelat-
ed features of the subject – infants and young children, the goals,
content, approaches, methods, and means of this activity —
is confirmed by the assessments of early childhood educators
themselves and the experts interviewed by the author. |
