The article considers the problem of develo-
ping compensatory competence of school students in teaching
English speaking, which is due to the need to overcome possi-
ble linguistic difficulties in the process of intercultural commu-
nication. Emphasis is placed on one of the key compensatory
skills the ability to use synonyms in the process of oral commu-
nication, as through the use of synonyms oral speech becomes
more diverse, colorful and emotionally rich. This study analyzes
modern methodological approaches to the concept of com-
pensatory competence, content of the “Spotlight” education-
almethodological package for secondary school students, and
also considers the requirements for the oral part of the Basic
State Exam in English language. It was found that the exis ting
training manuals do not contribute enough to the formation of the ability to use synonyms in oral speech, so a technology
has been developed for gradual formation of the skills of using
synonyms. The article describes the stages and substages of the
technology, each of which is accompanied by specific examples
of tasks and exercises that allow students not only to expand
their active vocabulary, but also to develop spontaneous spea
king skills. The practical value of this study is to develop tasks
and exercises that complement existing sets of teaching materi-
als. The results of the study can be used by teachers of English
to improve the effectiveness of teaching oral language, forming
key components of foreign language communication compe-
tence of school students, as well as for the successful prepara-
tion for the Basic State Exam on English language. |
