Annotation: Higher education experts emphasize that the widespread use of digital technologies in teaching has made it possible to develop new learning formats, in particular the blended learning format. This learning format is based on a model of interaction between a teacher and students, com- bining the advantages of fulltime and distance learning. In the scientific literature there is a lack of objective informa- tion on the impact of blended learning formats used in phys- ical education of student youth on the level of their physical fitness. The purpose of this study is to search for correct data on the impact of a specific program of blended learning associ- ated with physical education on indicators of students’ physical fitness. This study compares data characterizing the physical fitness indicators of students of the Siberian Federal Univer- sity who used different learning formats in physical educa- tion classes. Students of group A practiced a format of blen ded learning in physical education under physical education and sports teachers` supervision. Students of group B practiced a traditional format of physical education. The level of students` physical fitness was assessed using tests (“Ready for Labor and Defense” complex / GTO). Significant (p ≤ 0,05) differences in the results of test trials related to development of strength and strength endurance of the upper shoulder girdle and abdominal muscles were revealed in favor of the students, who practiced blended learning (group A). The positive influence of the blen ded learning format on physical fitness indicators characteri- zing the development of strength abilities (strength endurance and strength of the upper shoulder girdle and abdominal mus- cles) of male university students was confirmed.
