The professional activity of teachers is associa-
ted with specific requirements that can limit individual abil-
ities to overcome difficulties and pose a risk of developing
psychological and pedagogical problems such as difficulties
in teaching and educating students, in professional develop-
ment, in emotional wellbeing. A theoretical review of studies
on the problem of the viability and life satisfaction of teach-
ers is conducted. These qualities allow them to work effec-
tively in conditions of constant change, maintain efficiency
and motivation, apply a set of strategies, including emotional
regulation and problemoriented behavior to achieve results,
actively influence the educational process, and improve their activities. The article presents an analysis of the results of
viability among teachers of additional education with dif-
ferent levels of life satisfaction. The study was conducted at
the St. Petersburg State Budgetary Institution Youth House
“Kolpinets”. The results of the study showed that teachers of
all levels of life satisfaction are characterized by low selfreg-
ulation, emotional instability, and a tendency to procrastina-
tion. Teachers with a low level of life satisfaction lack courage
to achieve their goals due to lack of understanding or fear of
failure or criticism of the work done by management or col-
leagues. Differences were found between the indicators of the
research scales in teachers of additional education with dif-
ferent levels of life satisfaction using the method “Personality
Viability” by A. A. Nesterova: teachers with high and aver-
age levels of life satisfaction, compared with teachers with
a low level of life satisfaction, are more motivated to overcome
and cope with difficulties, persistent in achieving their goals,
socially adapted, and able to achieve effective results in their
work. A developmental program for maintaining a high level
of life satisfaction can serve as a means of increasing the via-
bility of teachers with a low level of life satisfaction. |
