THE USE OF UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES IN AGRICULTURE AS A WAY TO INCREASE CROP YIELD AND ENSURE FOOD SECURITY OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Annotation:

The article examines the theoretical and practical aspects of using UAVs in agriculture to increase crop yields and ensure food security of the Russian Federation. The paper substantiates the relevance of using UAVs in agriculture due to such factors as the growth of the planet’s population, climate change manifested in the form of extreme weather events, as well as depletion of soil fertility, environmental pollution with pesticides and herbicides, and limited land resources. The main areas of using UAVs in agriculture are identified. The use of UAVs in agriculture in Russia and its current results are analyzed, allowing us to draw conclusions about the effectiveness of using UAVs. The activities of government agencies to spread the use of UAVs in agriculture in Russia are analyzed, including government support measures for UAV manufacturers and agricultural enterprises. Government support measures are considered not only at the federal, but also at the regional level. The problem of import dependence in the production of agricultural UAVs is emphasized. A specific example shows that innovative developments can increase the efficiency of using UAVs in agriculture. The advantages, risks and limitations of using UAVs in agriculture in Russia, as well as problems that hinder the widespread use of agricultural UAVs, are identified, and directions for their solution are proposed. The theoretical significance of the work lies in the development of the concept of using UAVs in agriculture, including advantages, risks and limitations. The practical significance of the study lies in the fact that the results obtained can be used in the development of strategies, government programs and tools to support production and UAVs and their use in agriculture.
