The article investigates the principles of establi shing
a network of national high-tech industrial development zones
in China in the context of global geoclimatic and cognitive trans-
formations. Its primary objectives are to identify spatial patterns
in the placement of these zones, assess their economic, environmen-
tal, and social impacts, and analyze the role of global geoclimatic
pressure and cognitive shifts in shaping their development strategies.
The methodological foundations of the study are compa-
rative-geographical analysis, systems theory, spatial mod-
eling, and cartographic methods. It emphasizes China’s
integrated approach in developing special economic zones,
research-and-production clusters, and advanced development
territories, highlighting their significance within the national
innovation ecosystem and industrial modernization. The results show that the siting of high-tech zones in Chi-
na follows stable territorial patterns: proximity to academic
and research centers; availability of robust transportation,
logistics, and energy infrastructures; and access to major inter-
national corridors. The outcomes include accelerated regio-
nal GDP growth, substantial foreign direct investment inflows,
creation of high-skilled jobs, and reductions in unemployment.
Moreover, the adaptability of these zones to global challen-
ges is evidenced by their strategic shift toward environmentally
sustainable “green” technologies and active adoption of digita-
lization, artificial intelligence, and intelligent control systems.
The scientific contribution lies in presenting a comprehensive
systems-oriented model of success determinants and offer-
ing concrete recommendations for further zone development.
Practically, the proposed framework can guide policymakers
in designing regional industrial growth strategies and planning
innovative clusters in other countries. |
