Annotation: According to the rules of the World Aquatics (FINA) competitions, acrobatic elements are mandatory components of synchronized swimming, which imposes high requirements for acrobatic training. This, though, is paid insufficient attention. Currently, “the work of an acrobat with female athletes” as an independent type of sports training is not included in the content of the Federal Standard for Sports Training in the sport of synchronized swimming. It is also not included in the currently existing curricula for sports schools. In this regard, the study presented in the article aims to develop a program and methodology for the acrobatic training of synchronized swimmers, taking into account the qualitative uniqueness of implementing the principle of substantive generalization in teaching acrobatic elements of synchronized swimming, and to test the effectiveness of their implementation at the stage of improving sports skills. The research is based on modern scientific and methodological knowledge presented in articles in scientific journals, reports at scientific conferences, and monographs, as well as the results of a formative pedagogical experiment involving two groups of synchronized swimmers, each consisting of 12 participants, who train in improving sports skills groups at Olympic Reserve Sports School “Delfin”, Naberezhnye Chelny, Republic of Tatarstan (experimental group), and Olympic Reserve Sports School of aquatic and other sports, Saint Petersburg (control group). Methods of research included analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature; questionnaire surveys; pedagogical observation; video analysis; pedagogical testing; expert assessment; pedagogical experiment; and methods of mathematical statistics. Research results indicate that implementing the experimental methodology for acrobatic training of synchronized swimmers at the stage of improving sports skills ensures an improvement in performing acrobatic elements and exercises, as well as in competitive results.
