Annotation: The paper substantiates, from a methodological standpoint, the use of KOMPAS-3D for visualizing projection problems in a descriptive geometry course at a technical university. The topic is timely because CAD tools are now widely used in engineering programs, yet students still struggle to make a real transition from the spatial form of an object to its orthographic depiction. The aim pursued here is to ground an approach in which KOMPAS-3D serves as an instrument of guided visualization, linking form analysis, digital modeling, and the learner’s independent construction of a projection drawing. As its methodological foundation, the study draws on a review of recent publications devoted to geometric and graphic instruction, a comparative examination of CADoriented pedagogical approaches, pedagogical modeling of students’ learning actions, and a content-based analysis of the difficulties typically encountered by students. A transitional didactic model is put forward, encompassing examination of the task conditions, construction of a simplified three-dimensional model, comparison of that model against orthographic projections, independent execution of the drawing, and diagnostic review of the errors made. The digital model, the study finds, does not function merely as an illustration or a stand-in object; instead, it takes on a visual-analytical and diagnostic role, revealing errors in spatial reasoning, discrepancies between the views, and difficulties in accounting for projection logic. The scientific novelty of the work resides in a clarified understanding of KOMPAS-3D’s role as an intermediary didactic link connecting the spatial, digital, and graphic levels of a student’s learning activity. Its practical significance is reflected in the applicability of the proposed approach to lesson design, graded assignments, and error diagnosis.
