In modern society, the digitalization of many processes,
as well as the emergence of new financial risks, necessitates
improving the level of financial literacy among citizens.
Furthermore, it is essential to develop this type of literacy in students,
especially university students, as future professionals must
understand financial matters, plan their own expenses, anticipate
losses, and understand macroeconomic processes. Therefore,
developing students’ financial literacy is becoming a priority
for Russian educational policy. Traditional lecture-based teaching
methods in economics do not fully develop practical skills
in personal finance management in university students. Students
majoring in economics and non-economic disciplines may successfully
reproduce the definitions of economic concepts, but
struggle to apply this knowledge in real-life situations. Therefore,
there is a pressing need to find new forms, methods, and techniques
for working with students to develop and enhance their
financial literacy. Using these forms, methods, and techniques,
university students can learn to effectively plan their personal
budgets, manage their finances, and anticipate risks.
In this article, the authors define the terms “literacy” and
“financial literacy”, describe their experience using various
teaching technologies at South Ural State Humanitarian Pedagogical
University, and identify the advantages of using business
games and the specifics of integrating game formats into
the educational process, including adapted versions of Monopoly,
quest games, and online simulators in classes on Economics,
Banking, Pricing, Finance, Financial Management, Financial
and Economic Workshops, and others.
In conclusion, the authors state that the use of financial
and business games within economic disciplines and the use
of teaching technologies in university education are essential
for the professional development of competitive specialists
and the development of their financial literacy. |
