The study focuses on the interrelationship between
mental skills and anxiety levels in female rhythmic gymnasts at
the master’s level. The psychological testing involved 13 firstand
second-year students from Lesgaft National State University
of Physical Education, Sports and Health, aged 18-20, who
were engaged in training and competitive activities in the university’s
national teams. Among them, 6 athletes held the title
of Candidate Master of Sports and 7 were Masters of Sports
of Russia. The aim of the work was to identify the conditions
that determine anxiety in gymnasts during the competitive
period, and to develop scientifically based recommendations
to optimize psychological training. The study used the method
of correlation analysis to assess the relationships between
the indicators of purposefulness, stress resistance, concentration,
interference resistance, ideomotorics, planning, and
the overall OMSAT score, on the one hand, and the level
of situational and personal anxiety, as well as the components
of competitive anxiety, on the other. The diagnosis of mental
skills was carried out using the Author’s Test of Mental
Skills in the adaptation of K. A. Bochaver and L. M. Dovzhik,
which includes 12 subscales and 48 statements. It was found
that stress resistance is inversely correlated with cognitive
and somatic anxiety, and is directly related to competitive
self-confidence. Concentration and noise resistance show significant
inverse relationships with personal anxiety and cognitive
anxiety, respectively. Ideomotorics and planning are positively
associated with self-confidence. The total OMSAT score revealed
the strongest direct relationship with competitive confidence
and the strongest inverse relationship with personal anxiety.
The results obtained confirm the key role of the comprehensive
development of mental skills in ensuring the psychological health
and sports achievements of highly qualified gymnasts. |
