Features of the social-demographic situation at the North Caucasus

The modern demographic situation in the North Caucasian region has been analyzed in details. The author affirms that despite the visible demographic stability, significant changes occur in the national republics of the North Caucasus both in the structure and content of demographic processes that are reflected first of all in the changes of the population reproduction rates and the reproduction settings of the city population of the region, urbanization processes and migration activity. The article has scientifically classified social-demographic indicators of the North Caucasian republics; has identified the main reasons of worsening of the social and demographic situation in the region.
