Regional tourist and recreational complex: status, advantages and problems of development

The article assesses the tourism and recreational complex of Volgograd region. Tourism and recreational potential of the region is analyzed, its advantages in terms of tourist attraction are highlighted and the complex of tourism industry development problems is identified, including the most complicated problems: the current unsatisfactory condition of the transport infrastructure and hotel services. The guidelines and opportunities for development of new types of the tourist services in Volgograd region are developed, the measures for their support by the regional and municipal authorities are proposed. In case of the interest of the regional authorities and with the right approach to formation of the set of measures for development of the tourism and recreational complex, Volgograd region can expect a significant increase in tourists and raise of the value of the tourism industry in the region’s economy.
