TOURIST-RECREATIONAL COMPLEX: ECONOMIC ESSENCE AND THE STRUCTURALLY FUNCTIONAL CHARACTERISTIC

The article analyzes the stages of development of the theory and methodology of the study of territorial recreational systems, classifies the various interpretations of the definition of «tourist and recreational complex» to highlight the main features of this complex. Its place and role is determined; the structural and functional characteristics are underlined. The possibility of identifying distinctive characteristics of each individual tourist and recreational complex of the region among the totality of the regional tourist and recreational complexes as a result of modification and differentiation of the sign of territorial attribution and localization of the economic and social effects resulted from functioning of this complex is justified. The necessity of application of evolutionary, systemic, institutional, and resource-level approaches to studying and developing strategies for development of the tourist and recreational complexes is substantiated.
