Based on archival and documentary materials, the article states that the long gradually evolving process of voluntary joining of the Caucasus peoples the Russian state was finished by the end of the eighteenth century. The changes initiated in the life of the mountaineers after this historic act under the influence of the Russian cultural representatives, inclusion of the North Caucasus into the frame of capitalist relations marked the beginning of school development and spreading of literacy among them. It is concluded that the progress in the socio-cultural and economic development that began in the second quarter of XVIII – early XIX centuries led to the socio-spiritual and political-economic revival of the mountain tribes. |
