The article substantiates the role of small farms in the food provision of the country. Comparative characteristics of such forms of husbandry as private farms and peasant (farmer’s) households are provided. Based on the comparative analysis that identified the most promising forms of husbandry the advantages and disadvantages of these forms were defined. The features of functioning of peasant (farmer) farms on the territory of the Volgograd region were revealed, as well as the problems of their existence in the current socio-economic conditions. The basic solutions of existing problems for ensuring food security in the region and the entire country were proposed. |
