PATRIOTIC EDUCATION OF STUDENTS BY STUDYING THE BASES OF THE RUSSIAN MILITARY HISTORY

The article emphasizes the importance of patriotic education of students of higher educational institutions, as well as the relevance of this work at the present stage. Based on various approaches to studying the issues of patriotic education of students, the study of literary data, the author contributes to improving the educational work of the university. The study of the foundations of military history is substantiated for improving the quality of the process of patriotic education. Examples of formation of knowledge of the military history of the Russian state among students during and out of school hours are given; and the relationship of patriotic education with other components of educational work in an educational institution is shown. This article describes the work on formation of students’ consciousness based on the invaluable contribution of our ancestors to development of the modern society, the importance of a strong state and people, the ability to find the relations between history and processes taking place in the country and the world today, sincere feelings and awareness of each young man’s belonging to his great country, understanding the need of contribution of every citizen to development and well‑being of Russia. A study conducted by the author shows how to solve pressing problems in formation of the patriotic consciousness of the youth. The author notes the effectiveness of this work with university students and makes recommendations. The study confirms current trends in development of means of improving the system of educational work with university students. The work enhances the role of the university as a social institution in development of the personality of a citizen‑patriot. The experience of the work done can be successfully applied in other universities of the country.
