Annotation:

The article deals with the problem of integrating cultural components into foreign language teaching. Based on the analysis of existing didactic directions and methods, the authors define their own approach to the consideration of intercultural competence in a broad (autonomous) and narrow (integrative) understanding. The peculiarities of a country’s socio-cultural development are immediately reflected in the language of its nation; therefore, the tasks of teaching the language must be constantly adjusted in accordance with the nature of these changes, which emphasizes the relevance of the stated topic. Considering the intercultural competence integratively (as the segment of intersection with the linguistic competence), we set our mind to offer some of the most effective scenarios to create linguistic and cultural knowledge. In total we’ve offered the didactic practices, emphasizing the correlation of linguistic and cultural identity of a person and the peculiarities of his verbal behavior. The following sources and ways of language and culture knowledge are presented: the poetic text, the language of modern youth communities and social dialect, the language of idioms and anecdotes as a linguistic and cultural code of the national character. It is concluded that the level of foreign language proficiency depends on the competence in native speaker’s characteristics and the features of the country. To teach a foreign language does not mean just to load the memory of the student with a sufficient number of words and rules, but considerably to immerse the person in all spheres of foreign cultural life. In accordance with the integrative approach the interpretation of intercultural competence as a coaspect of particularly linguistic competence is made.
