Sports activity, characterised by high extremity and emotionality, places high demands on the personality of an athlete. In this regard, it is necessary to provide appropriate psychological support for the preparation of athletes, one of the directions of which is psychodiagnostics of personal qualities, mental processes, team relationships and the athlete’s condition. Psychodiagnostics in sports is a system of measures aimed at improving training and competitive processes [1]. In the training process, the subjects of psychodiagnostics are: 1) the properties of nerve processes: force, mobility, equilibrium, acting as a kind of indicator when choosing a sport; 2) mental processes: sensation, memory, reaction, attention properties, determining the success of mastering the chosen sport; 3) personality traits (temperament, character, etc.) that underlie the individual training of athletes and the composition of groups and links on the basis of psychological compatibility; 4) abilities: coordination, psychomotor, speed-power, ability to self-regulation; 5) mental states in the training process, before the competition, at the competition, after the competition; 6) motivation, the actual needs of athletes, which are the “drivers” of sporting excellence. In competitive activities, the subject of psychodiagnostics is the state of an athlete, characterized by dynamicity and affecting the results of competitive activities. Psychodiagnostics in sports is carried out at all stages of many years of sports training: initial training, sports specialization, sports advancement, higher sports skills [2]. At each stage, psychodiagnostics involves addressing tasks that contribute to improving the quality of sports training and athletes’ preparation for competition. Psychodiagnostics occupies a significant place in the structure of pre-competition training of athletes and competitive activity |
