The article formulates topical aspects of school geographical education. A brief analysis of the Concept of modern geographical education, the Federal State Educational Standard of basic general education, and the Federal Basic Curriculum is given. The main approaches to the definition of the concept of regional component are formulated. A brief overview of the history of its formation and the methodological foundations of the study of the regional component in the school geography course are given. The structure of the regional component of geographical education in the 6th grade of a secondary school is considered. The ways of implementing the process of studying the regional component on the example of one of the rural schools are presented. It is noted that a particularly important condition for the effective implementation of the regional component is systematic teaching. For this purpose, thematic planning has been developed and introduced into the practical activity of geography teachers to study the regional part of the course “Earth Science” in the 6th grade as fundamental for school geography. The thematic planning includes the development of lessons based on the use of “local” material. Such lessons are characterized by the predominance of active forms of learning. The results of the pedagogical experiment, which confirms our working hypothesis, are presented. Higher indicators of the quality of knowledge and interest in the study of geography in the control experimental group illustrate the theoretical and practical significance of the study. |
