The article is devoted to an urgent issue related to the development of private subsidiary farming in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the innovation called self-employment. The article presents the results of theoretical inferences and analysis of applied data that it will be essential to implement the terms of self-employment in the system of private subsidiary farming. Global changes in civilization the way of human life and other values directly affect and change the traditional forms of farming. In this context, the specifics of private subsidiary farming are subject to change. Therefore, the authors consider some variations of the application of tactical methods of interaction between the economy and the external environment. Particularly interesting in this context is the possibility of a representative of a private subsidiary farm to formalize self-employment in order to take orders from businesses and individuals for the raising of livestock or growing vegetables. In addition, a private subsidiary farm can hire self-employed local people, especially rural youth, for seasonal or commissioned work. Thus, private subsidiary farming contributes to family welfare. Positive statistical indicators show that private subsidiary farming is increasing in quantitative terms, thus contributing to the reduction of unemployment in the countryside. Despite this positive picture, there is less than 0.2 million rubles worth of production per private subsidiary farm per year on average. That is why the increase in the state and municipal management in the issues of the development of private farms and employment of the population should contribute to the organization and implementation of new projects to support employment and self-employment in private subsidiary farming.
