ANDRAGOGY IN RUSSIA: NEW ACCENTS

This article analyzes adult education in Russia from the standpoint of its influence on the processes of formation of civil society and the rule of law. The authors pay special attention to the absence in the system of modern additional education and retraining of personnel of a meaningful and practical component related to political education and the formation of the skill of protecting rights and freedoms. The basis for the stated problems is the specific situation that has developed in modern Russian society. In the conditions of more than a quarter of a century of existence of a democratic regime in the Russian Federation, a significant number of the adult population still does not have a clear and precise idea of what democracy, civil society and the state are. This ignorance is exacerbated by the lack of ideas about how one can protect one’s rights and freedoms. The result of these gaps in the political education of a significant part of the population of modern Russia is the inhibition of democratic processes. An analysis of the stated problem allows us to conclude that the modern system of pedagogical and political knowledge is not consolidated to solve the existing problem. Andragogy does not take into account the need to include systems of political knowledge in adult education, and political education is focused on the problems of institutionalization and professionalization. To solve the formulated problem, the authors proposed and convincingly substantiated the need to integrate elements of political knowledge into educational programs for adults. At the same time, a proposal was made to use the practical component to solve a specific problem / task related to the protection of the rights and freedoms of a citizen. According to the authors, the natural consequence of the implementation of such an approach should be the formation of an independent scientific direction — political andragogy.
