The psychological and pedagogical research is devoted to the urgent problem of finding effective ways to use modular technology in the process of university students’ training in the classes the fine arts cycle, which takes into account the individual capabilities and abilities of students. It transforms the educational process, enables the student to study independently according to the targeted individualized program. In order to achieve the learning objectives set by the teacher, the student works with the module, which is a target information functional core that combines the content of the learning material and the methodology of gradual mastering it. Among the effective ways of the technology implementation the use of the project method is justified, which allows improving the students’ learning outcomes. The effectiveness of the project method application was confirmed during the psychological and pedagogical experiment described in the article. In the course of the psychological and pedagogical experiment special attention was paid to the criteria for diagnostics of students’ activity in the process of creative project realization. As the main criteria of diagnostics the authors allocate: joint activity with the teacher at a level of cooperation; ability to set new educational, research and project tasks; evaluation of correctness of performance, ability to make corrections; ability to reason logically and establish cause-effect connections and regularities; ability to coordinate educational activities during task performance; consideration of other participants of creative group and validity of own position; acceptance of relativity of opinions and approaches to the solution of a creative task; presentation of argumentation of own position and its coordination with other members of the project group; ability to carry out mutual control and coordination of assistance to others; general positive assessment of participation in project activity, expressed in external positive motives; learning and cognitive interest; ability to see beautiful in activity and orientation to art; stable interest to the technological component of art education. Moreover, project activity of students in the framework of modular training technology is not only a tool for diagnostics of students’ activities, but also a way to improve their learning outcomes. The implementation of modular technology with the use of project learning method is disclosed in the description of the forming stage of the experiment, in which students performed creative, project tasks in classes on drawing, painting and other creative disciplines. Post experimental diagnostics confirmed the positive impact of the project method for the implementation of modular training technology in the classes of the fine arts cycle.
