DIGITAL ECONOMY AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE REGION

The purpose of the article is to study the socio-economic development of the region on the principles of the digital economy, assessing its level in the Republic of Buryatia as a whole and by types of economic activity. Since the regions differ in territorial conditions, priorities and trajectory of socio-economic development, implementation of regional policy, then, without a doubt, an analysis of the spread and introduction of digital technologies in the real sector of the economy and households as a whole is required. In this regard, the management of territorial development in the context of the formation of the digital economy is considered from the standpoint of creating a mechanism that takes into account not only territorial conditions, but also its capabilities for self-development. When developing a management mechanism in the context of digitalization, the authors propose elements that include the creation of an institutional digital environment, the choice of tools, and an analysis of the development of the digital economy. The main emphasis in the article is made on methodological approaches to assessing the level of the digitalization process in general and by types of economic activity in particular. The article reflects research on the socio-economic development of the region, identifies trends in its development, possible consequences of the transition to the principles of the digital economy. An analysis of the use of advanced production technologies in the Far Eastern Federal District and in the Republic of Buryatia is carried out, which in comparison shows certain results of the socio-economic development of the region. The results of the research will assess the level of digitalization in the region, risks and possible consequences. Statistical compilations and databases, as well as official sources of reports from various leading organizations, were used in practical calculations.
