LABOR POTENTIAL AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE REGION

The article examines the main approaches to assessing the labor potential of the region. In modern conditions, the correct assessment of the labor potential of the region is more important than ever to identify growth factors of socio-economic development. Within the framework of the natural approach, when assessing the labor potential of the region, the labor productivity index of the region is analyzed, and within the framework of the cost approach, the labor efficiency index is calculated. It is revealed that the increase in GRP growth rates in all subjects of the Volga (Privolzhsky) Federal District has led to an increase in these indices. The paper presents the main characteristics of the socioeconomic development of the subjects of the Volga Federal District by type of region. The growth (decline) rates of the main socio-economic indicators of the subjects of the Volga Federal District are calculated and analyzed. Since the labor potential of the region depends on many factors, including the development of the regional labor market, the market of educational services, the demographic and migration situation, social conditions. Its assessment is carried out taking into account an integrated approach, and an integral index of labor potential is calculated depending on the type of region. It is revealed that there are reserves for the growth of the labor potential index in all subjects of the Volga Federal District, so in the developed regions of the Volga Federal District this index is higher than in the medium-developed regions. The analysis of the main indicators of the effectiveness of labor potential and socio-economic development of the subjects of the Volga Federal District is carried out, on the basis of which the rating of regions is compiled. It is established that the high level of the integral index of labor potential depends on the level of socio-economic development of the region. The directions for increasing the integral index of the labor potential of the region are proposed.
