For hotel enterprises operating within a relatively small tourist area (city, region), increasing competitive advantages is not easy and at the same time it is one of their main tasks, due to various reasons: the narrowness of the geographical framework, the same tourist product offered in this particular destination, a similar set of additional services, identical category and status of most accommodation facilities, direct competition, seasonality, relatively small tourist flows — all this significantly limits the competitiveness of hospitality industry enterprises. In this regard, for such accommodation facilities there is a need to develop various strategic steps designed to strengthen the competitive position. The article examines the specifics of the formation of the concept of a strategy for increasing the competitiveness of hotel enterprises, which, ultimately, should lead to the development of not only a specific company, but also to improving the image of the tourist destination as a whole. The authors provide a description of various categories and types of competitive advantages regarding accommodation facilities. The development and enhancement of these advantages should be based on a comprehensive development strategy for the hotel enterprise. Using the example of accommodation facilities in the city of Elets and the Elets district of the Lipetsk region, problem “zones” for the development of the regional hospitality sector and ways to overcome them are identified, mainly through the development and implementation of a strategy for the development of enterprises and increasing their competitiveness and competitive advantages. The authors emphasize that the success of each such strategy largely depends on its cyclical, continuous nature. |
