READINESS OF ADDITIONAL EDUCATION TEACHERS TO PROVIDE SPIRITUAL AND MORAL EDUCATION WITHIN THE STRUCTURE OF A GENERAL EDUCATION ORGANIZATION

| Annotation: | The article reveals the results of a study upon the willingness of teachers of additional education working in general education organizations to achieve the goals and objectives of spiritual and moral education of students. The authors consider various approaches to define the following terms: the concept of teachers’ readiness to provide spiritual and moral education, patterns of such readiness, the correlation between long-term and situational readiness, psychological readiness, real behavior and the applied actions of teachers while mentoring students in additional education. The article presents and describes components of teachers’ readiness to provide spiritual and moral education in the system of additional education on the basis of a comprehensive school. The purpose of the study is to identify the attitude of teachers implementing various directions of additional education to develop traditional Russian values as the basis of spiritual and moral education of students; furthermore, it is to determine the list of methods which are implemented by teachers to organize spiritual and moral education. The article introduces the results of an online survey among additional education teachers. The research helps to identify the scope of problems concerning training, retraining and advanced training for teachers working in general education and providing additional education. The analysis of empirical data confirms the theoretically substantiated hypothesis that having the psychological readiness for a teacher is insufficient to successfully solve the problems of spiritual and moral education of students in the practical activities of additional education. | ||
