The growing contradictions between the mankind
and the environment, as well as the need to meet human
needs in conditions of depletion of natural resources, pose the
question of rethinking our attitude to nature. For the formation
of a sustainable global community, it is important that every
individual, and especially the younger generation, have the appropriate knowledge, skills and value orientations. In this connection,
article raises the urgent problem of studying the process
of forming socio-ecological competence of a student, reveals
the essence of socio-ecological competence in the context of a
competence-based approach. The role of educating students is
emphasized, which provides opportunities for the transition
from narrow environmental activities to a broad socio-ecological
one. This determined the purpose and objectives of the article:
to characterize the socio-ecological competence of students
of vocational schools. To achieve this goal, research methods
were used: survey, testing and analysis of the results. To study
socio-ecological competence, its components were considered:
cognitive, operational, need-motivational and activity-based.
Based on the results of the study, the following conclusions
are formulated: students are aware of the need for environmental
knowledge, the importance of their personal participation
in environmental activities; environmental education should be
based not on knowledge alone, but on the formation of a personality
with high social and civic responsibility, whose activities
are based on his attitude to the world, society, spiritual and
moral values; the formation of a responsible attitude to the environment
and health is the most important priority in educating
students for the sustainable development of society; in order to
form students’ socio-ecological competence, it is necessary to
take into account a set of conditions. |
