Modern educational directions and goals, as well
as the inclusiveness of school education and multi-level classrooms,
reflect the importance of addressing the individual qualities
of students to achieve better academic, cognitive and personal
results for each student. Such effectiveness can be achieved by
applying a differentiated approach both in classroom and extracurricular
activities, since this approach is based not only on the
distribution of students by age groups, but also pays attention
to the individual characteristics and mental health of students.
This work is aimed to analyse the differentiated approach to
teaching English in grades 5—9 within a comprehensive school
education, providing examples of the application of this approach
in classroom and extracurricular activities, and identifying methods
for its implementation when teaching English within general education. We describe the phenomenon of differentiation in modern
pedagogical and scientific literature, identify the key points
and difficulties of this approach in teaching, and analyse the use
of a differentiated approach in applying it to English lessons for
students in grades 5—9 of a comprehensive school. Examples
and recommendations for applying this approach in an educational
environment for multi-level classes are also given. This
work gives examples of real educational materials and their use
in implementing differentiated teaching of students with different
levels of abilities, skills and preferences in educational activities,
which confirms the need for a differentiated approach in today’s
comprehensive schools. |
