USE OF WATER SPORTS FACILITIES AT THE FITNESS STAGE FOR CHILDREN WITH MENTAL RETARDATION IN INCLUSIVE CLASSES

Annotation: This study focuses on creating a sports and fitness program for children with mental retardation in inclusive groups. The program is based on a unique combination of exercises from three water sports: swimming, water polo and freediving. Water activities have a positive effect on the body. When implementing this program, special attention was paid to determining the psycho-emotional state of children in inclusive classes. The authors’ concept is based on a model of inclusive classes for primary school children with mental retardation together with healthy children. According to the results of the survey, most parents with children with intellectual disabilities want to enroll their child in a group with healthy children to learn swimming and water sports (60.5%). The aquatic environment is recognized as the most effective for improving the physical and psycho-emotional state of children with intellectual disabilities, their adaptation to society. The scientific novelty sports that contribute to a positive impact on the physical, psycho- emotional, social aspects of a child’s personality in the context of inclusive classes, as well as in designing fitness events. In this article, the authors summarize that classes of children with mental retardation together with healthy children by means of water sports (swimming, water polo, freediving) contribute to their successful psycho-emotional development and form successful social interaction in society as a whole.
