This article investigates contemporary challenges
associated with the inquiry into economic offenses during investigative
procedures that utilize video conferencing technology. It
emphasizes the tactical and organizational hurdles faced when
employing video conferencing in these investigations. The research
assesses the necessity and justification for incorporating video
conferencing into investigative actions, while also pinpointing the
difficulties that investigative agencies encounter in this regard. The
findings are grounded in the studies of local criminologists who
focus on the application of information technology in investigations,
as well as in legislative frameworks that govern the use of
video conferencing in judicial contexts, along with information
obtained from public sources. The methodology incorporated
analysis, synthesis, systematization, and data generalization. Consequently,
both the pros and cons of utilizing video conferencing
in investigative processes were identified. The study culminates in
recommendations to address the identified challenges, alongside
methodological guidelines for effectively conducting these actions
via video conferencing. It concludes with reflections on the significance
of video documentation for thorough record-keeping of
investigative proceedings and suggests strategies for its optimal
application. Additionally, it evaluates future potentialities for video
conferencing systems in investigative activities. The prospects of
conducting investigative activities using video conferencing in case
of interrogations and confrontations in the absence of appearance
of the questioned person in the investigative body at his place of
residence are also considered. |
