The transformation of the general education system poses a challenge for modern teachers, who not only impart knowledge to students in various subjects, but also shape their personalities. The issue of developing an adequate self-esteem is a multifaceted and critical task during adolescence, when personal development is actively taking place. Biology classes, due to their specific content, offer significant potential for targeted interventions in this area. This article explores psychological and pedagogical techniques that promote a realistic and positive self-perception among students through the content of the biology course. The key approach is to create a supportive environment for each student. This is achieved through the use of differentiated tasks of varying levels of difficulty, which allows adolescents with different abilities to experience satisfaction from their own achievements. Formative assessment plays an important role, shifting the focus from grades to meaningful feedback. Teachers provide comments on progress, effort, and areas for improvement, rather than simply highlighting errors. This approach encourages adolescents to view assessments as tools for growth rather than labels. The subject content also promotes reflection. Studying topics related to the body’s internal environment, immunity, digestion, breathing, skin, and nervous system allows us to draw parallels with our own personalities and recognize our individuality and value. Project and research activities, especially in groups, develop self-organization, cooperation, and mutual evaluation skills, which directly affect self-confidence. The systematic use of techniques focused on personal progress, reflection, and collaboration in biology classes not only helps to achieve academic results, but also fosters a stable adequate self-esteem among adolescents, which serves as a foundation for their further personal and academic growth.
