Article explores the development of schoolchildren’s research skills in the supplementary education system for children, through the activities of the House of Scientific Collaboration named after M. P. Khabaev at Buryat State University. In a rapidly changing labor market and the digitalization of society, research skills are becoming crucial for successful adaptation and self-realization. This article examines the theoretical foundations for developing these skills, emphasizing interdisciplinary and project-based research approaches, as well as the diversity of approaches to defining the concept of research skills. The authors identify the key components of research skills: cognitive, exploratory, practical, communicative, and reflective, and demonstrate how they are implemented in the educational practices of the Center using biology, chemistry, and biotechnology courses as examples. The article describes the specific features of Houses of Scientific Collaboration as an environment for developing schoolchildren’s research skills, including interdisciplinary approach, integration, project-based and research-based learning, and collaboration with university faculty and the scientific community. The authors conducted a longitudinal research, observed the participation of students in scientific competitions and conferences, analyzed the products of schoolchildren’s research activities, surveyed students, and conducted interviews. They also formulated organizational and pedagogical conditions that ensure the effective development of research competences. These include a flexible, modular structure of educational programs, the organization of project activities focused on real-world problems and collaboration with scientific organizations, the creation of a favorable educational environment, and the use of modern digital technologies. The research’ results have practical value, as they enable the transformation of the educational process in supplementary education centers, facilitating the development of schoolchildren’s research potential.
