The article provides a retrospective analysis of the organizational transformation of industrial enterprise management in the course of technological innovations. It is shown that the history of industrial revolutions of the last century and a half convincingly proves that technological progress and innovative development of industrial production becomes the driver of the formation of various organizational structures. Considering that the objective need to search for the most effective mechanisms for managing production with innovative, knowledge-intensive technologies is due to the problem of maximizing the potential of technological innovations to improve business efficiency in general, the authors suggest that the key challenge for increasing production efficiency is the variability of processes. Low energy intensity of technologies during the first and second industrial revolutions made it possible to reduce variability by a huge number of operating units machine tools, machines and people directly involved in production. However, today, in the context of exponential growth of technological equipment of modern enterprises, when the variability of multi-operation technological processes amounts to thousands or more operations, the solution to this problem is absolutely not trivial and is of paramount importance. And one of the possible directions for its solution, according to the authors, is the development of such an organizational structure of production management that would create conditions for a radical reduction in interoperational variability within the framework of the innovative management paradigm. This study shows the elements of a new methodology for reducing the variability of production processes based on obtaining a synergistic result of applying the lean manufacturing approach within the framework of the fractal organization of business processes and the Industry 4.0 toolkit. The use of the proposed approach in organizational models of production management will create conditions for a radical reduction in interoperational variability within the framework of the innovative management paradigm.
