The article deals with the issue of formation of professional qualification of the physical training specialist. The author analyzing the Federal state educational standard of higher professional education in the sphere of Physical training arrives at a conclusion that actualization of health-preserving competence is required. The paper also highlights the author’s view on health-preserving competence of physical training specialist and its structure. The essence of the contextual approach to education is revealed, the role of the lecture course as a part of a holistic context of the process of education is shown; the goals, functions, types, lectures (subject lecture, lecture-visualization, lecture-press conference, lecture-consultation, lecture provocation, or lecture with planned errors, lecture, dialogue, etc.) and the used instructional methods are specified; The outcome is a theoretical readiness to use knowledge in solving professional problems.
