Population and the banks: international agreement Basel I

Twenty five years ago the international agreement that later on covered almost the entire world was adopted the first time in the history of the bank business. The agreement (International convergence of capital measurement and capital standards) was made between the central banks of 12 countries that was called Basel Capital Accord, Basel I in the communication and publications. For the risk management this agreement became the basis of establishing the regulatory basis of active operations taking into account the risks of various investments at the arrangement of money by the banks. The article has investigated the basic provisions of Basel I and its influence on the bank regulation in the European Union and in Russia.
