Annotation:

This article provides an assessment of the pension system in the Russian Federation. The possibilities of development of the pension reform, which began in 2002 are analyzed. The socio-economic aspects of the feasibility of increasing the retirement age are evaluated using international experience. The retirement age and prospects of development of the pension reform in the countries of the world are examined and the size of pensions is assessed. The author cites the positive and negative results of increasing the retirement age. The prospects of economic development in Russia resulting from increasing the retirement age are studied.
